Whip up Chef Trevis Lengley's quick lavash crackers from 3 Squares Restaurant, perfect for entertaining paired with a savory shallot cream cheese dip.
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped shallots
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onion
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Combine flour, salt, and granulated sugar to make crackers. Mix in water, egg, and melted butter until a stiff dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Divide the dough into 10 balls and roll each ball until very thin. Arrange the dough circles on a baking sheet without greasing. Brush with 1/3 cup of oil and sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt and pepper.
  • Bake until golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
  • In an 8-inch skillet, heat 1/2 tablespoon of oil until hot. Add shallots and cook until they caramelize and turn brown. Stir in brown sugar and honey, cooking until the sugar dissolves. Chill in the refrigerator.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Then, add the shallot mixture and remaining dip ingredients, mixing on low speed until well combined.
  • Enjoy the dip with some crispy crackers.
