Indulge in a homemade pizza with a flavorful and effortless sauce that will leave everyone impressed.
Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 0.5 small onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1.25 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 0.5 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 0.25 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, gently sprinkle yeast over warm water not exceeding 100 degrees F (40 degrees C). Allow it to rest for 5 minutes until the yeast softens and develops a creamy foam.
  • Sift flour, sugar, oregano, and salt into a large bowl. Mix in the egg and oil, then stir in the yeast mixture. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place (80 to 95 degrees F (27 to 35 degrees C)) until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to a piping hot 450 degrees F (235 degrees C) and grease a baking sheet with a touch of oil.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté diced tomatoes, tomato paste, onion, oregano, garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper until the sauce thickens, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Gently press dough and transfer to a floured surface. Divide into two equal pieces using a knife, avoiding tearing. Shape into rounds and rest for 10 minutes. Flatten into rectangles on a baking sheet. Spread tomato sauce, add 1 1/4 cup mozzarella; top with bell pepper, onion, mushroom, and 1/4 cup mozzarella.
  • Bake until the crust is golden brown, the edges are crispy, and the cheese is gooey, for about 20 to 25 minutes in a preheated oven.
