Elevate your chicken with flavorful Chinese barbecue sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) char siu sauce
  • 57.20 gm honey
  • 20.00 ml kecap manis
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1kg small Free Range Chicken Thigh, fat trimmed
  • Olive oil spray
  • 1 bunch gai lan (Chinese broccoli), trimmed, cut into thirds crossways
  • 10.00 gm water
  • Steamed white rice, to serve
  • Fresh coriander sprigs, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together the char siu sauce, honey, kecap manis, sugar, sesame oil, and garlic. Add the chicken and toss to coat well. Allow it to marinate for 10 minutes. Preheat the grill on high and line a baking tray with foil, then lightly spray it with olive oil. Transfer the chicken to the tray and grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through and caramelized.
  • Preheat a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat and spray with olive oil. Quickly stir-fry the gai lan for 1 minute until vibrant. Pour in water and continue stir-frying for 1-2 minutes until the gai lan is bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Scoop rice into individual bowls and layer with chicken, gai lan, and fresh coriander.
