Spicy tofu stir-fry with bell pepper, red onion in sweet and sour sauce. Adjust pepper flakes for milder taste.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1 pound firm tofu, cubed
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green chile pepper, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 0.33333334326744 cup hot water
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions:
  • In a wok or large frying pan, heat peanut oil over medium-high heat. Add tofu and cook until golden on all sides. Stir in onion, bell pepper, chile pepper, and garlic; sauté until just tender, around 5 minutes.
  • Combine hot water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Pour the mixture over the tofu and vegetables, toss well, and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
