Hot buttered rum

Cozy winter cocktail to instantly warm up après-ski.
Ingredients:
  • 50 g unsalted butter
  • 10 -12 cloves
  • 1 orange
  • 1 litre unsweetened cloudy apple juice
  • 500 ml white rum
  • 250 ml apricot brandy or Cointreau
  • 1 whole nutmeg for grating (optional)
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, add the cloves, and use a speed-peeler to add the orange peel. Once it starts foaming, pour in the apple juice, squeeze in the orange juice, and add the rum and apricot brandy (or Cointreau). Simmer, then pour into mugs or toddy glasses. Optionally, remove the orange peel. Finish with a sprinkle of nutmeg, if desired.
