Flavorful hot German potato salad with crispy bacon, onions, sugar, vinegar, and black pepper.
Ingredients:
  • 9 potatoes, peeled
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 0.75 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon celery seed
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 0.33333334326744 cup distilled white vinegar
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, submerge potatoes in salted water and bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer until tender, approximately 20 minutes. Drain the potatoes, let them cool, and slice thinly.
  • In a large, deep skillet, fry the bacon over medium-high heat until it's perfectly crispy. Remove, crumble it, and keep the flavorful drippings for later.
  • Cook the onions in the delicious bacon drippings until they become beautifully golden brown.
  • Combine flour, sugar, salt, celery seed, and pepper in a small bowl and whisk together. Add the mixture to the onions and cook until bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in water and vinegar, then bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Simmer for one minute, then gently fold in bacon and sliced potatoes until heated through.
