Quick and effortless side dish: Microwave broccoli for tender perfection in under 10 minutes. Perfect for a lazy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1 large head broccoli (approximately 1 pound)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, optional
Instructions:
  • Prepare the broccoli by cutting it into large florets. Optionally, trim and peel the stem, then slice it into 1/4-inch pieces.
  • Place broccoli florets in a microwave-safe bowl and add water. Cover with a plate and microwave on high for 4 minutes. Let it sit for 2 minutes to steam further. Check doneness by poking a fork through a stem - it should be crisp-tender. If needed, microwave in 30-second intervals until cooked to your liking.
  • Strain the broccoli in a colander to remove excess water, then return it to the original bowl.
  • Enhance the flavors by mixing in butter, salt, and pepper with the hot broccoli until the butter melts and coats the broccoli evenly. Adjust salt to taste before introducing lemon juice and optional garlic powder. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat uncovered in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Share your feedback by leaving stars below!
