Hummus with a Kick

Spiced turmeric hummus with a fiery kick from cayenne pepper.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, undrained
  • 0.33333334326744 cup tahini
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 0.75 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 0.125 teaspoon paprika
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Place chickpeas in a small saucepan and bring to a boil until soft and easily mashed with a spoon, around 10 minutes. Transfer to a blender.
  • Place tahini, oil, garlic salt, onion powder, turmeric, allspice, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper in the blender. Secure the lid with a potholder and blend on high until mostly smooth yet still thick, for 1 to 2 minutes.
