Inside-Out Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ultimate crispy inside-out grilled cheese: White bread, sharp Cheddar, butter.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 slices white bread
  • 0.5 cup shredded extra sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions:
  • Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, then add bread slices to the skillet.
  • Cover one slice of bread with a generous layer of 1/4 cup Cheddar cheese, then place the other slice of bread on top, butter-side up. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of cheese over the assembled sandwich.
  • Melt the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of butter in the skillet adjacent to the sandwich. Transfer the sandwich onto the melted butter, cheese-side down. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top of the sandwich. Cook until the bottom cheese turns crispy and caramelized, about 3 to 4 minutes. Flip the sandwich over and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the cheese is crispy and caramelized on the other side.
