Instant Pot® garlic-sesame chicken thighs: Flavor-packed pressure-cooked perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 4 bone-in, skin on chicken thighs
  • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 6 tablespoons water, divided
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
  • Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat a multi-functional pressure cooker like Instant Pot® on Saute mode. Heat sesame oil, then sear chicken thighs until golden on one side for 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in garlic, flip chicken, and cook until the other side is golden and garlic is aromatic, another 3 to 4 minutes. Cancel, then transfer chicken to a plate using tongs or a slotted spoon.
  • 1. Add 1/4 cup water to the pot and deglaze by gently scraping the bottom with a wooden spoon. Combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and honey in a bowl, whisk until smooth. Add chicken back to the pot and pour the sauce over it.
  • Close and seal the lid, then choose high pressure setting based on manufacturer's guidelines. Set timer for 10 minutes and patiently wait for pressure to build for 6 to 10 minutes.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions to release pressure naturally for about 5 minutes. Then carefully quick-release the remaining pressure for another 5 minutes. Unlock the lid and use tongs or a slotted spoon to take out the chicken and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of water with cornstarch. Switch on the Saute function, then stir in the cornstarch mixture into the sauce. Let it simmer until thickened for about 2 minutes. Turn off the Saute function, add chicken back to the sauce, sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds, then mix everything well.
