Whip up Instant Pot British baked beans quickly and effortlessly from scratch!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups dried navy beans
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Add navy beans to an Instant Pot® along with water and vegetable stock, stirring to combine. Seal the lid, select high pressure, and set the timer for 28 minutes following the manufacturer's guidelines. Allow pressure to build for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Carefully release pressure using the instant-release method as per the manufacturer's instructions for about 5 minutes. Then, unlock and remove the lid.
  • Check the beans for doneness. If they are still not soft enough, cook for an additional 2 minutes at a time using instant pressure release until they reach your desired softness. Drain the beans, keeping the bean liquid aside.
  • In a pot, mix together tomato paste, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, and 1 1/4 cups of bean liquid. Add in cooked beans and season with salt and pepper. Stir until beans are evenly coated. Use the Saute function on low heat.
  • Simmer until mixture bubbles and begins to thicken, approximately 3 minutes. If needed, stir in additional reserved bean liquid to achieve desired consistency.
