Delicious spice and lemon cake with apple sauce layer, topped with whipped cream or lemon sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 lemon, zest grated
  • 1.75 cups applesauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • Prepare a 9x9-inch baking pan by greasing it.
  • Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  • Mix egg yolks, butter, and lemon zest until dough is well combined.
  • Combine applesauce, cinnamon, and cloves in a small bowl.
  • Spread half of the dough evenly onto the prepared baking pan, layer with the applesauce mixture, and top with the remaining dough.
  • Bake in the oven until the cake is golden brown, for about 40-45 minutes.
