Delicious Irish soda bread with self-rising flour and sweet raisins for a perfect treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9-inch round baking dish by greasing and flouring it.
  • Combine self-rising flour, sugar, and butter in a large bowl using a pastry cutter until it forms a coarse crumbly mixture. Gently fold in raisins.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk with the egg. Gently combine this milk mixture with the flour mixture until the dough holds together. Place the dough in the baking dish and brush the top with 1 tablespoon of milk for a golden brown crust.
  • Put the bread in the preheated oven. Lower the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for 1 hour. Allow it to cool a bit before serving.
