Indulgent brownies with toffee bits, topped with rich chocolate-whiskey icing for a festive St. Patrick's Day treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Delights Supreme Original Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box for cakelike brownies
  • 2/3 cup toffee bits (from 8-oz bag)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Irish whiskey
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Line a 9-inch square pan with foil, leaving some overhang. Grease foil with shortening or cooking spray. Prepare brownie batter following box instructions for cakelike brownies; add toffee bits and mix well. Spread batter in pan.
  • Bake for 28 to 31 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out almost clean. Then, place the pan on a cooling rack.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add cocoa, salt, whiskey, and vanilla. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly, then remove from heat. Gradually whisk in powdered sugar. Return to heat and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture is pourable.
  • Drizzle the warm frosting over the brownies and spread it evenly. Allow to cool completely for about 2 1/2 hours.
  • Carefully use the foil to effortlessly transfer the brownies out of the pan, then gently peel the foil off. Slice the brownies into 6 rows horizontally and 4 rows vertically.
