Authentic Italian pizza dough made without a bread machine.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 0.5 teaspoon white sugar
  • 0.5 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
  • Mix the yeast and sugar into lukewarm water using a fork. Allow it to sit in a warm spot until a creamy layer appears on top, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate olive oil into the flour mixture and stir for 2 minutes. Add yeast mixture and beaten egg to form a stiff dough. Transfer dough onto a floured work surface and knead until smooth and springy, around 8 minutes. Place dough in a floured bowl, cover with oiled plastic wrap.
  • Allow the dough to rise until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour. Then, deflate the dough by punching it down and roll it out into your desired shape.
