Total Time:
Savory Italian sausage and gooey mozzarella cheese stuffed in jumbo pasta shells, smothered in marinara sauce, and baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package jumbo pasta shells
  • 3 teaspoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 (16 ounce) package finely shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning, plus more for garnish if desired
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar prepared marinara sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and gently oil a 9x13 baking dish.
  • 1. Boil a large pot of salted water until simmering. Cook pasta shells until al dente, stirring occasionally, for about 10 to 12 minutes. Drain. Place drained pasta on an oiled baking sheet to cool.
  • In a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil. Cook the sausage, breaking it up until it's browned and no longer pink. Remove from heat, drain off excess grease, and mix in half of the shredded cheese and Italian seasoning.
  • Fill pasta shells generously with flavorful sausage mixture before placing them neatly in the baking dish.
  • Evenly distribute the marinara sauce over the shells and sprinkle with the remaining shredded cheese. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the oven until hot and bubbly, around 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until golden brown, 5 to 10 minutes more. Optional: sprinkle with a pinch of Italian seasoning.
