Spicy Italian sausage enhances creamy ricotta filling.
Ingredients:
  • 18 jumbo pasta shells (from 16-oz package)
  • 1 lb bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 container (15 oz) whole-milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 can (28 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend (8 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare pasta according to package instructions. Refresh in cold water and drain well.
  • In a 10-inch nonstick skillet, sauté the sausage over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes until cooked through; then drain any excess fat. Mix in the ricotta cheese and egg.
  • Combine tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Spread 1 cup of the sauce mixture on the bottom of a 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish. Fill each pasta shell with about 2 tablespoons of the sausage mixture, then place the shells on top of the sauce in the baking dish. Finish by pouring the remaining sauce over the stuffed shells.
  • After baking uncovered for 30 minutes, generously sprinkle cheese over the top and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is perfectly melted.
