Italian Sausage with Farfalle and Broccoli Rabe

Savory Italian sausage entree with cheesy garlic bread, paired perfectly with sparkling white wine. A crowd-pleaser loved by all.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package farfalle (bow tie) pasta
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2.5 cups chicken broth
  • 0.125 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 bunch broccoli rabe, trimmed
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1.5 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
  • Boil a large pot of salted water. Add farfalle pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add Italian sausage, cook until crumbly and no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook until sausage browns, about 5 minutes more. Drain excess grease, then add chicken broth and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, add broccoli rabe, cover, and cook until tender, about 4 minutes.
  • Finish the broccoli rabe cooking, then mix in the butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until the meat sauce thickens. Combine with the farfalle pasta and serve.
