Upgrade your bread basket with delicious jalapeño and cheese-filled pretzels made with Pillsbury™ pizza crust.
Ingredients:
  • 1 package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup finely shredded Cheddar cheese (2 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped pickled jalapeño chiles (from 12-oz jar)
  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Coarse (kosher or sea) salt
  • Salsa, as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine Filling ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. Line a large cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface into a 14x12-inch rectangle. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough lengthwise into 4 strips.
  • Place 1/4 cup of the filling onto one long edge of each dough strip. Fold the dough over the filling, brush the edges with water, and seal by pinching. Then, lift the filled dough ends, stretch them, and twist into a 24-inch rope.
  • Shape each rope into a "U", twist the ends twice, press the dough where it overlaps to make an "X", and fold the ends over to rest at the bottom of the "U" shape.
  • Place 2 cups water in a medium microwavable bowl and microwave on High for about 2 minutes until hot. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Dip each pretzel into the water mixture, one at a time, then remove with a large pancake turner. Let them stand for about 5 minutes. In a small bowl, whisk together an egg and 1 tablespoon of water, then brush the pretzels with the mixture.
  • Arrange pretzels on a baking sheet and generously sprinkle with salt. Bake in the oven for 11 to 15 minutes, or until the tops of the pretzels turn a beautiful dark golden brown. Enjoy serving them with salsa.
