Succulent Korean kalbi ribs marinated in a sweet soy-sesame sauce with hints of ginger, garlic, pear, and green onion overnight.
Ingredients:
  • 3 pounds beef short ribs
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 1 Asian pear, cored and diced
  • 0.5 small onion
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, submerge the ribs in water until the water changes color, approximately 1 hour. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  • Place soy sauce, Asian pear, onion, garlic, and ginger in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • In a large bowl, mix green onions, sesame oil, brown sugar, sesame seeds, honey, and black pepper. Add ribs and make sure they are coated evenly with the marinade. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.
  • Prepare the outdoor grill by preheating it on high heat and giving the grate a light coating of oil.
  • Grill ribs until perfectly charred and tender, flipping once, for about 4 minutes each side.
