Killer Steak Burgers with Black Pepper Mayo and Crispy Onions

Spicy mayo and crunchy onions elevate juicy burgers.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/4 cups French-fried onions (from 6-oz can)
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 4 hamburger buns, split
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
Instructions:
  • Preheat gas or charcoal grill. Combine beef, steak sauce, salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and 1/2 cup onions in a large bowl. Shape into 4 patties, each 1/2 inch thick. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and remaining 1/2 teaspoon pepper; set aside.
  • Grill the patties over medium heat, covered, for 11 to 13 minutes, flipping once, until a meat thermometer inserted in the center reads 160°F. In the last 2 minutes of cooking, toast the buns on the grill, cut sides down.
  • Spread the creamy mayonnaise mixture onto the freshly cut buns. Add the remaining 3/4 cup of onions, crisp lettuce, and juicy burgers. Finish by placing the top halves of the buns to create the ultimate burger experience.
