Try our fun and delicious Kitty Litter Cake - perfect for spooky parties and kids' events.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
  • 2.25 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package white cake mix
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • 2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla sandwich cookies
  • 3 drops green food coloring
  • 1 (12 ounce) package chewy chocolate-flavored candy (such as Tootsie Roll®)
  • 1 kitty litter box and liner
  • 1 kitty litter scoop
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease the bottoms of two 9x13-inch glass baking dishes.
  • Prepare the decadent chocolate cake batter by blending the chocolate cake mix, 1 1/4 cups water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 3 eggs in a large bowl using an electric mixer until thoroughly mixed. Transfer the batter into a greased baking dish.
  • In a separate large bowl, blend together white cake mix, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 3 egg whites using clean beaters on medium speed until fully mixed. Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake cakes in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean - 30 to 35 minutes for the chocolate cake and 29 to 34 minutes for the white cake. Allow them to cool on a wire rack until they reach room temperature, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the pudding: Whisk together cold milk and pudding mix in a large bowl for 2 minutes, then refrigerate until needed.
  • Pulse cookies in batches in a food processor, occasionally scraping down the sides. Transfer 1/4 cup crumbs to a small bowl; mix in food coloring until green. Keep the rest of the crumbs for later.
  • Unwrap candy rolls and then line the kitty litter box with the liner.
  • Break up the cooled cakes into a large bowl. Mix in half of the uncolored cookie crumbs and a portion of the chilled pudding. Toss everything together until well blended, adding more pudding gradually until the mixture becomes moist but not overly wet. Transfer the mixture into the kitty litter box.
  • Soften half of the candy rolls in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds. Shape the ends to remove bluntness and gently curve the candies. Randomly bury the candies in the litter box, then sprinkle with half of the remaining uncolored cookie crumbs and a few green crumbs on top.
  • Melt 3 to 4 candies in the microwave until they are almost liquified. Drizzle them over the cake and sprinkle with green crumbs.
  • Soften the remaining candies in the microwave and mold them as described in Step 9. Scatter all candies except one on top of the cake in a random pattern, then sprinkle the leftover uncolored crumbs on top. Drape the last candy over one edge of the "litter box" and sprinkle the remaining green crumbs on top. Present the cake with the kitty litter scoop for an added touch.
