"Decadent roasted milk custard dessert with a show-stopping caramelized sugar topping, chilled and elegantly inverted for serving."
Ingredients:
  • 4.5 tablespoons water
  • 4.5 cups milk
  • 8 large eggs, beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for a perfect cooking environment.
  • In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar in water to make caramel. Stir continuously until golden brown, for 5 to 10 minutes. Pour the caramel into a 9x5-inch glass baking dish, ensuring the bottom is completely coated.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth using an electric mixer. Strain the custard mixture over the caramelized sugar.
  • Bake until custard sets and has a slight jiggle in the center, about 45-55 minutes. Let cool for 15-20 minutes, then refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight.
  • To serve, gently run a knife along the edges of the baking dish to loosen the custard. Quickly invert a plate or platter on top, carefully flip, remove the baking dish, and serve.
