Create flavorful classic soup with just 4 ingredients. Easy steps, let simmer until dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1 x 500g pkt Soup Mix
  • 1 x 850g ham hock
  • 2L (8 cups) water
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Fresh mint leaves, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, combine the soup mix, ham hock, water, and thyme. Cover the saucepan and bring it to a boil, while using a slotted spoon to skim off any foam that forms on the surface.
  • Simmer the ham on medium heat, partially covered, for 1 1/2 hours or until it's falling off the bone.
  • Take the ham hock off the heat and transfer it to a plate. Let it cool slightly, then remove the ham from the bone and discard the bone. Shred the ham and add it back to the soup. Warm it over low heat, stirring until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the soup in individual bowls and garnish with fresh mint leaves before enjoying.
