Loaded chocolate crackle hedgehog slice recipe

Irresistible hedgehog slice - loved by all ages!
Ingredients:
  • 300g packet McVitie’s Dark Chocolate Digestive biscuits
  • 100g butter, melted, plus extra 200g butter, chopped
  • 3 x 180g blocks milk chocolate, chopped
  • 180g block dark chocolate, chopped
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) golden syrup
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) thickened cream
  • 300g packet McVities Milk Chocolate Digestives, roughly chopped
  • 750.00 ml puffed rice cereal
Instructions:
  • Prepare your slice pan by generously greasing it and then lining the base and sides with baking paper, making sure to extend the paper 2cm above the edges of the pan.
  • Pulse Dark Chocolate biscuits in a food processor until they form fine crumbs. Add butter and pulse until mixture comes together. Press mixture firmly into the base of the pan. Chill in the fridge to set while making the topping.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and dark chocolate with extra butter and golden syrup. Cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is smooth and combined (it's okay if it separates slightly). Remove from heat and stir in cream until smooth.
  • In a heatproof bowl, mix milk chocolate biscuits and cereal. Pour in melted chocolate mixture and mix thoroughly. Spread the mixture over the prepared base and chill in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours until firm.
  • Allow the slice to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before slicing into delicious bars to enjoy.
