Hawaiian-inspired cream cheese and imitation crab wontons served with a selection of delicious Asian dipping sauces.
Ingredients:
  • 1 quart oil for frying, or as needed
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (12 ounce) package imitation crabmeat, flaked
  • 1 (5 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 5 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 (14 ounce) packages wonton wrappers
Instructions:
  • In a large, heavy saucepan, heat oil until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine the cream cheese, crabmeat, water chestnuts, green onions, and soy sauce in a medium bowl, blending them together until well mixed.
  • Place a generous teaspoon of the creamy cheese mixture at the center of each delicate wonton wrapper. Carefully fold the wrappers into triangles, sealing the edges with moistened fingertips for a perfect finish.
  • Fry wontons in batches until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove and let them drain on paper towels.
