Low-fat choc-hazelnut spread

Indulge in homemade chocolate hazelnut spread for a delicious breakfast upgrade.
Ingredients:
  • 10.00 gm cornflour
  • 33.00 gm ground hazelnut meal (see note)
  • 50.00 gm skim milk powder
  • 59.40 gm brown sugar
  • 32.50 gm cocoa powder
  • 193.13 gm reduced-fat milk
  • 18.20 gm extra light olive oil
  • 4 large slices white sandwich bread, toasted, to serve
  • Strawberries, halved, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a small non-stick saucepan, mix together hazelnut meal, milk powder, sugar, cocoa, and cornflour.
  • In a jug, mix milk and oil, then pour into the dry ingredients. Cook over medium heat and stir constantly for 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a heatproof airtight container. Let it cool to room temperature uncovered.
  • Cut heart shapes out of toast slices using a large heart-shaped biscuit cutter. Spread chocolate spread on the toast and serve with strawberries.
