Elevate your meals with our tropical homemade hot sauce made with chopped mangoes for a burst of island flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 ripe mangoes, seed removed, peeled and chopped
  • 1 can (4 oz) Old El Paso™ Chopped Green Chiles
  • 1 habañero chile, chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
Instructions:
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and garlic for 2 to 3 minutes until softened. Add mangoes, green chiles, habañero chile, and water. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until mangoes are soft and water is evaporated. Reduce heat to low, then stir in vinegar and honey. Simmer for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Blend the sauce in a blender or food processor on high speed until smooth. If the consistency is too thick, gradually add water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Refrigerate the sauce in airtight jars or containers for up to 1 week.
