Elevate your breakfast with bacon-infused fluffy biscuits drizzled with maple syrup.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup finely chopped cooked bacon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick surface.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Use a pastry cutter to blend cold butter into the mixture until small, pea-sized butter pieces are visible. Stir in milk, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and egg until just combined; avoid overmixing. The dough should be sticky with noticeable butter pieces.
  • Place the dough on a well-floured surface and scatter bacon pieces on top. Knead gently 10 to 15 times to mix in the bacon, adding more flour if the dough is very sticky.
  • Gently press the dough to a 3/4- to 1-inch thickness, then use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits and place them onto the baking sheet.
  • Bake until the top is golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Brush with melted butter and the rest of the maple syrup for added flavor.
