Asian-style beef and lamb meatballs with a flavorful sauce, perfect as an appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup hoisin sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground lamb
  • 0.5 head cabbage, chopped
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup grated carrot
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 cup chopped green onion
  • 6 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 450°F (230°C).
  • Combine hoisin sauce, 4 cloves of garlic, red wine vinegar, soy sauce, grated ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, hot sauce, white pepper, and black pepper in a large bowl, then whisk until well combined.
  • Combine ground beef, ground lamb, cabbage, yellow onion, panko, carrot, ground ginger, green onion, 6 cloves of chopped garlic, garlic salt, black pepper, and 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce in a separate bowl. Shape the mixture into meatballs and place them on a jelly roll pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 25 minutes until no longer pink in the middle. Shake the pan to turn meatballs, then broil for an additional 10 minutes until browned. Allow to cool.
  • Place the warm meatballs in the slow cooker and generously coat them with the hoisin sauce mixture.
  • Simmer gently for 2 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
