Authentic Maryland crab cakes: lump crab, Old Bay, and white bread - a Chesapeake Bay classic.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound crabmeat
  • 2 slices white bread, crusts trimmed
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning TM
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon-style prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
  • Transfer the crab meat to a spacious bowl, ensuring to carefully eliminate any shell fragments.
  • Tear bread into small pieces and combine with crab meat. Mix in beaten egg, Old Bay seasoning, mayonnaise, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Gently mix by hand to maintain meat texture. Shape mixture into 6 patties.
  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Sear the patties in sizzling butter until beautifully golden, approximately 4 minutes on each side.
