Transform almond dough into a variety of delicious fruit-filled treats with this quick and tasty recipe!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Food colors
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, blend together butter and sugar until well combined. Stir in flour and almond extract until a crumbly mixture forms. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and follow shaping instructions provided. Transfer onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • - Preheat oven to 300°F. Bake for 30 minutes until set but not browned, then transfer to wire rack. For apple shapes: Color part of the dough with red or green food coloring, shape into small balls. Insert a small cinnamon stick piece for the stem and a whole clove for the blossom end. Brush with diluted red or green food coloring. For apricot shapes: Color part of the dough with red and yellow food coloring, shape into small balls. Make a crease down one side with a toothpick, insert a whole clove for the stem. Brush with diluted red food coloring. For banana shapes: Color part of the dough with yellow food coloring, shape into 3-inch rolls, tapering ends. Flatten slightly, then curve. Paint on markings with a mixture of red, yellow, and blue food colors diluted with water. For orange shapes: Color part of the dough with red and yellow food coloring, shape into small balls. Insert a whole clove for the blossom end, then prick with the blunt end of a toothpick for texture. For pear shapes: Color part of the dough with yellow food coloring, shape into small balls, then cones with rounded narrow ends. Insert a small cinnamon stick piece in the narrow end for the stem. Brush the "cheeks" with diluted red food coloring. For strawberry shapes: Color part of the dough with red food coloring, shape into small balls, then heart shapes. Prick with a toothpick for texture, roll in red sugar. Insert a small piece of green-colored toothpick or green dough for the stem.
