Meat-Lover’s Pizza Casserole

Savory casserole packed with Italian sausage, bacon, and pepperoni for ultimate satisfaction.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb uncooked ziti or other tubular pasta
  • 1/2 lb bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) pizza sauce
  • 8 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 package (3.5-oz size) sliced pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend (8 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 3-quart casserole dish with cooking spray. Cook the pasta according to package instructions for the minimum recommended time, then drain and return to the saucepan.
  • In a 12-inch skillet, sauté sausage, onion, bell pepper, and garlic over medium-high heat for about 7 minutes until the sausage is cooked and the onion is soft. Add pizza sauce, bacon, and pepperoni. Mix with cooked pasta. Transfer half of the pasta mixture (about 4 cups) into a casserole dish. Top with 1 cup of cheese before adding the remaining pasta mixture on top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, then sprinkle remaining 1 cup of cheese on top. Continue baking for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until hot and cheese is melted and bubbly.
