Indulge in a decadent meringue-swirled chocolate cake made with Betty Crocker™ cake mix - a dessert to savor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 3 egg whites
  • 3/4 cup sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F, then generously grease and lightly flour the sides and bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Prepare the cake batter according to the box instructions and set it aside. In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer on high speed to beat 3 egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat until stiff and glossy peaks are achieved.
  • Spread two-thirds of the meringue on the sides of the pan, leaving the bottom untouched. Pour the cake batter into the pan and generously top it with the remaining meringue. Use a knife to carefully swirl the meringue through the batter.
  • - Bake for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool for 10 minutes. Gently run a knife around the side of the pan to release the cake and remove the side of the pan. Allow it to cool completely for about 1 hour. Store the cake loosely covered.
