Quick and flavorful Japanese-inspired meal perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients:
  • 65g miso
  • 4 x 200g beef sirloin steaks
  • 300g rice
  • 60ml peanut oil
  • 250g green beans
  • 2 carrots, cut into matchsticks
  • 40.00 ml mirin
  • 42.00 gm light soy sauce
  • 2 radishes, cut into matchsticks
  • 3.00 gm black sesame seeds
  • 3.00 gm white sesame seeds
Instructions:
  • Massage the miso paste onto the steaks and allow them to marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • Cook the rice as directed on the package; then, drain and set aside.
  • Drizzle 2 tablespoons of oil over the steaks. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the steaks for 3 minutes on each side for medium-rare or to your desired doneness. Let the steaks rest, covered loosely with foil, for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Clean the pan and heat the remaining tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Cook the beans and carrot for 2-3 minutes until tender. Stir in the mirin and soy sauce, and cook for another 2 minutes until slightly reduced. Finish by adding the radish and resting steak juices, stir to combine, and remove from heat.
  • Slice the steak and serve it alongside warm slaw and rice. Finish by scattering sesame seeds on top before serving.
