Impress with homemade chocolate coffee candies for gift-giving.
Ingredients:
  • Butter for greasing
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso coffee powder or coffee granules
  • 1 bag (12 oz) white vanilla baking chips (2 cups)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
  • Cover the bottom and sides of an 8- or 9-inch square pan with foil, ensuring the foil hangs over 2 opposite sides of the pan. Grease the foil generously with butter.
  • In a 2-quart nonstick saucepan, combine 3/4 cup of milk with espresso powder. Add white baking chips and stir well. Heat over medium-low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chips are melted and the mixture is smooth. Spread the mixture in the pan.
  • In the same saucepan, combine the remaining milk, chocolate chips, and vanilla. Heat over medium-low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chips are melted and the mixture is smooth. Spoon the mixture over the espresso layer, swirl with a knife, and gently press to smooth the top.
  • Chill for approximately 2 hours until set. Use the foil to easily lift from the pan, then slice into 1-inch pieces.
