Decadent mocha upside-down cake with rich chocolate and coffee flavors, a timeless family treasure.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (1 ounce) square unsweetened chocolate
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold, strong, brewed coffee
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease an 8-inch baking pan.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and unsweetened chocolate for 20 to 30 seconds. Mix in the milk and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Combine flour, 3/4 cup white sugar, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Stir in the chocolate mixture until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Combine coffee, brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, and cocoa powder in a bowl, then pour the mixture over the batter.
  • After 30 minutes in the preheated oven, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it onto a serving platter.
