Indulge in mocha chocolate scones with whipped cream for a decadent family treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3 teaspoons instant espresso coffee powder or granules
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado (raw sugar) or granulated sugar
  • Whipped cream and additional chocolate chips, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 425°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a small bowl, mix coffee powder into 1 cup of whipping cream; set aside.
  • Combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Use a pastry blender or two knives to cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gently mix in chocolate chips and reserved whipping cream until dough comes together and forms a ball.
  • Place the dough on a cookie sheet and shape it into a 9-inch round. Using a sharp knife dusted with flour, cut the round into 8 wedges without separating them. Brush the wedges with 1 tablespoon of whipping cream, then sprinkle them with 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  • Bake until golden brown, then remove from the cookie sheet and cut into wedges. Serve warm topped with whipped cream and extra chocolate chips.
