Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup white baking chips
  • 1 teaspoon shortening
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Combine 3/4 cup of shortening, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, and egg in a large bowl using a spoon. Mix in all the remaining ingredients except for the white baking chips and 1 teaspoon of shortening. Roll the dough into 1 1/4-inch balls and place them 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until just set. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Melt white baking chips and 1 teaspoon of shortening in a small microwave-safe bowl on Medium-High (70%) power for 1 minute, stirring halfway through. Continue microwaving in 15-second intervals until the mixture can be stirred smooth. Drizzle over cookies.
