Make Halloween cake pops with Betty Crocker™ vanilla cake mix, frosting, and candies for spooky monster treats!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 6 cups blue candy melts
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 72 paper lollipop sticks
  • Block of plastic foam
  • 12 green sour candy straws, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup purple candy melts, melted
  • 144 candy eyes
Instructions:
  • Prepare the cake mix as instructed on the box for a 13x9-inch pan using water, oil, and eggs. Let it cool. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Crumble the cake into a large bowl. Mix in the frosting until well combined. Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the cookie sheet. Freeze until firm, then refrigerate.
  • Place blue candy melts and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave them uncovered on Medium (50%) power for 1 minute, then in 15-second intervals until fully melted. Stir until smooth. Dip the tip of a lollipop stick about 1/2 inch into the melted blue candy and insert it into a cake ball not more than halfway. Repeat this process for all cake balls. Place the cake balls on a cookie sheet and refrigerate them for 5 minutes. Take a few cake balls out of the refrigerator at a time. Dip them in the melted blue candy, tapping off any excess. Insert the opposite end of the stick into a foam block. Quickly attach 2 candy straw pieces to the top of each pop for antennae, holding them in place until they set. Allow the cake pops to stand until completely set.
  • Transfer the melted purple candy into a resealable plastic bag, seal it, and cut off a small corner. Squeeze the bag to decorate the cake pops with mouth and teeth. Use any extra melted candy to stick candy eyes onto the antennae.
