Create a decadent breakfast casserole with ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, croissants, and a touch of jam for a memorable and elegant twist on the classic Monte Cristo sandwich. A must-try unique breakfast casserole recipe!
Ingredients:
  • Cooking spray
  • 7  large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups half-and-half
  • 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices deli smoked ham (1/4-inch thick)
  • 8 slices deli smoked turkey (1/4-inch-thick)
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 day-old croissants, halved horizontally
  • 2 tablespoons seedless raspberry jam
  • 1 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • Create a silky egg custard: Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, mustard, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until perfectly smooth. Set aside for next step.
  • Prepare the casserole: Grease a 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Arrange 1 slice of ham, 1 slice of turkey, and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each croissant (fold meats and cheese as needed). Top with the other half of the croissants. Transfer the stuffed croissants to the baking dish and pour the egg mixture over. Cover with foil and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the covered croissants for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown and the egg mixture is almost set. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Prepare the drizzle by mixing the jam and maple syrup until smooth. Dust the casserole lightly with powdered sugar and generously drizzle with the raspberry jam sauce. Enjoy the dish and let us know your thoughts by leaving a rating and comment!
