Enhance meatballs by encasing mozzarella in ground meat for extra juiciness and flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 lb bulk sweet Italian pork sausage
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup Progresso™ plain bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 4 large fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 27 small cubes
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a cookie sheet with sides or shallow baking pan by spraying with cooking spray or lining with a silicone baking mat.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, excluding the cheese. Use a small cookie scoop (about 1 tablespoon) to form 27 meatballs and place them on a cookie sheet.
  • Place a cheese cube in the center of each meatball and mold the sausage mixture around it until fully enclosed.
  • Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until meatballs are fully cooked in the center.
