Delightful summer syrup for crafting refreshing beverages with friends.
Ingredients:
  • 750ml bottle dry red wine
  • 215.00 gm caster sugar
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 x 10cm long strips orange rind
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over gentle heat. Stir continuously for 5 minutes or until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Turn up the heat to high until boiling, then lower to medium-low and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes until slightly thickened. Allow to cool.
  • Pour the mixture through a fine sieve into a jug, discarding any solids. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until cold.
