Mummy sausage rolls recipe

Ingredients:
  • 400g pkt Beef & Pork Chipolata Sausages
  • 1 sheet frozen reduced-fat puff pastry, just thawed
  • 1 Free Range Egg, lightly whisked
  • 1 slice tasty cheddar
  • 1 Smoke Flavoured Cheese Slice
  • Chocolate writing icing, to decorate
  • Tomato sauce, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C while lining a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Preheat grill to medium. Line a baking tray with foil and place sausages on it. Grill, turning occasionally, for 5-7 mins until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool.
  • Unfold the pastry on a clean work surface and slice it into 5mm-thick strips. Wrap 5-6 strips of pastry around each sausage, then transfer them to the lined tray. Gently brush them with egg wash, then bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry turns a golden hue. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
  • Slice the cheese into 1cm and 5mm discs. Attach the cheese discs to the sausage rolls using a small amount of tomato sauce to create the eyes. Garnish with writing icing. Serve the sausage rolls warm or at room temperature, accompanied by tomato sauce.
