Mustard fried chicken wings: seasoned, coated, and fried to crispy perfection for a delicious appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients:
  • 5 pounds chicken wings, separated at joints, tips discarded
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon monosodium glutamate (MSG, or Accent flavor enhancer)
  • 3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart oil for frying, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Coat chicken wings generously with a flavorful blend of garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, seasoned salt, and MSG.
  • Brush each wing delicately with zesty mustard using a basting brush. In a plastic bag, tumble chicken with flour for a perfectly even coating.
  • Prepare your deep fryer or heavy skillet by heating the oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Pan-sear the chicken in sizzling oil until fully cooked and the juices are clear, about 6 minutes per side. Check with an instant-read thermometer near the bone - it should register 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Place on a plate lined with paper towel to drain excess oil. Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
