Whip up authentic New York-style pizza dough ahead of time for a crave-worthy slice of the city's iconic favorite. Prep the dough a day in advance!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 0.5 cup bread flour
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1.5 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 cups bread flour, or more as needed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, mix together water, 1/2 cup flour, yeast, and sugar until a foamy and bubbly mixture forms. Let it sit for about 20 minutes.
  • Mix 2 cups of flour, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and salt into the yeast mixture with a wooden spoon until a cohesive dough forms; transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Generously drizzle 2 1/2 teaspoons of olive oil inside a large bowl, ensuring it coats the entire surface.
  • Gradually incorporate flour into dough while kneading until it becomes soft and slightly sticky, for about 10 minutes.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and transfer it into the prepared bowl. Drizzle approximately 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil over the dough, making sure to evenly coat the entire ball. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm spot in the kitchen for about 2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Gently press down dough and transfer it to a spacious resealable plastic bag. Chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours to overnight. Prior to use, take the dough out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature.
