Whip up stovetop cereal bars with fruit, nuts, and more - no baking required! Perfect for a quick and tasty snack.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups dried apples, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 3 cups Whole Grain Total® cereal
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup golden raisins
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup apple butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
  • 1/4 cup dry-roasted sunflower nuts
Instructions:
  • Prepare the 8-inch square pan by lining the bottom and sides with foil and spraying the foil with cooking spray. Scatter 1/2 cup of apples and 1/4 cup of pecans over the bottom of the pan. In a resealable plastic bag, crush the cereal with a rolling pin or meat mallet to a coarse texture. Set aside.
  • In a 4-quart Dutch oven, bring 1/2 cup of apples, honey, raisins, and brown sugar to a boil over medium-high heat, occasionally stirring. Lower the heat to medium and cook uncovered for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the mixture is hot, bubbly. Remove from heat.
  • Combine creamy peanut butter into the warm cooked mixture, allowing it to melt beautifully. Follow by incorporating the sweet apple butter and fragrant cinnamon. Toss in the hearty oats and crunchy sunflower nuts until fully combined. Finish off by gently folding in the crushed cereal for added texture and flavor.
  • Press the mixture firmly and evenly onto the apples and pecans in the pan to ensure the bars hold together. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup apples and 1/4 cup pecans, gently pressing them into the mixture. Refrigerate for about 2 hours until set. Cut into 4 rows by 3 rows to form bars and store them covered in the refrigerator.
