Create a delicious and wholesome bar by combining Chex™ cereal with dried fruits.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups Cinnamon Chex™ or Rice Chex™ cereal
  • 2/3 cup chopped dried apples
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
Instructions:
  • Prepare an 8-inch square pan by lining the bottom and sides with foil, then spraying the foil with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine cereal, apples, almonds, and cranberries; set aside.
  • Microwave butter, corn syrup, and brown sugar in a large microwavable bowl on High for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until mixture boils and slightly thickens.
  • Pour the mixture over the cereal in the bowl and stir well to coat evenly. Use the back of a buttered spoon to press the mixture firmly into the pan. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until it is firm enough to cut.
  • Cut the bars into 16 equal pieces and store them covered at room temperature for up to one week.
