Crunchy sweet twist on a classic American treat, ideal for picnics, cozy nights by the fire, or as a thoughtful gift.
Ingredients:
  • 4 1/2 cups Corn Chex™ or Rice Chex™ cereal
  • 4 cups popped microwave popcorn
  • 1/2 cup honey-roasted peanuts, if desired
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
  • After popping the popcorn, ensure to remove any unpopped kernels. Next, combine the popped popcorn, cereal, and peanuts in a large microwavable bowl; set aside for further use.
  • Microwave butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla in a medium microwavable bowl on High for about 2 minutes, or until boiling, stirring halfway through. Pour over cereal mixture and stir until evenly coated.
  • Microwave on High for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring and scraping the bowl every minute. Spread the mixture on waxed paper to cool for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to break it up. Transfer to an airtight container for storage.
