Irresistible homemade oat bars with applesauce, whole wheat flour, and chocolate chips trump store-bought options.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup whole wheat flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for a perfect bake.
  • Combine applesauce, brown sugar, white sugar, egg white, oil, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Combine the mixture with the applesauce. Add in the oats and chocolate chips. Spread the dough evenly in an ungreased 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Bake until beautifully golden, for about 20-25 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow to cool completely before slicing into 16 delicious bars.
